American Indian Graduate Recruitment Program
The goal of the American Indian Graduate Recruitment Program is to improve the perception of both leaders and youth in California's Native American communities about the role of the university and more specifically of social work in their lives, and promote the value of a career as an MSW in public child welfare.
Since August 1999, the MSW program at California State University, Stanislaus and the Child Welfare Training Project under a special contract with CalSWEC have been spearheading the full-time effort to recruit students from California's Native American communities to the Title IV-E MSW Program.
Full-time Recruitment Coordinator Tom Phillips, a recognized and respected member of the Native American community, provides consultation to the Title IV-E MSW stipend programs statewide on improving recruitment programs and support services for Native American students.
