Title Legislative and Political Analysis Grantee(s) Donna Hardina School: CSU, Fresno Summary: This project is preparing students to analyze political processes and the impact of politics on practice and service delivery in the child welfare system. Gap(s) Addressed: The effects of the political process on practice, including the influence of block grants and other politics, and updates of new legislation Project Status: Completed Products: 1) Teaching manual (instructional material & assignments).
2) Bibliography of materials on political processes.
3) Internet resources available for legislative and political analysis.Modules:
1) Legislative processes/structures. Possible impact of recent government proposals (block grants, funding reductions) on state and county child welfare systems.
2) Impact of child welfare policies and regulation (for example changes in reporting and liability laws) on service delivery in child welfare organizations. Impact of policies/ regulations on individual social workers.
3) Impact of current funding arrangements (grants, purchase of service contracts, managed care) on child welfare services in public and on nonprofit organizations.
