Gloria Balderas Is CalSWEC’s New Events and Communications Specialist

CalSWEC has hired Gloria Balderas as its Events and Communications Specialist, effective May 2, announced Administrator Director Nancy Nelson.

“We are extremely pleased that Gloria will be joining our team. Her experience coordinating events and projects in various fields, including higher education, will serve CalSWEC well," said Ms. Nelson. "We are also excited to have someone guide us through the process of developing a communication strategy.”

Ms. Balderas's responsibilities will be to coordinate all facets of CalSWEC’s more complex events, work with staff to develop a communications plan, and work with the Executive Director and Executive Team to develop event and communication strategies regarding CalSWEC’s internal and external constituencies.

Ms. Balderas most recently worked for Babson College in San Francisco, organizing entrepreneurship events and managing campus operations. Overall, she brings several years of events production experience, primarily within nonprofit industries. Ms. Balderas earned her B.S. in advertising from San José State University.

She joins the Fiscal/Administrative team, led by Ms. Nelson, of Research Administrators Mavis Njoo-Lau (Regional Training Academy, Mental Health) and Jane Turbiner (Title IV-E); Fiscal Assistant Barbara Stewart Anderson; Administrative Assistants Shifra Gaman and Afton Hencky; and Publications/Production Specialist Karen Ringuette.
