On the Horizon: An Integrated Training Plan for California’s Child-Serving Systems

A new Community Team, of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), will provide guidance and feedback about quality oversight and accountability in the delivery of Medi-Cal mental health services to multi-agency-involved youth. The Community Team’s goal is to more effectively serve the affected children, youth, and families.

A priority of the Community Team is the development of a shared training plan to integrate content and cross-system delivery of foundational training for the statewide practice model across all partnering organizations and community-based groups.

To co-lead this project, the Community Team has called upon the statewide Pathways to Well-being Workgroup, coordinated by CalSWEC. The workgroup will contribute expertise in content development, training delivery, and knowledge of existing training products for topics related to the shared training plan.

In turn, the Community Team will provide expertise and experience as advocates, service providers, and service recipients concerned about public child welfare and behavioral health systems as well as other service agencies. The shared training plan will reflect evidence-based practices and shared values across multiple child-serving systems for serving high-risk, high-need children, youth and their families.
