Toolkit Is One-Stop Shop for Continuum of Care Reform Information

CalSWEC’s Continuum of Care Reform (CCR) Toolkit has been developed to provide a variety of individuals access to current information on existing and new reforms to California’s child welfare services in a centralized location.

“Anyone who works in the child welfare field will find this toolkit helpful,” says Project Manager Melinda Iremonger, who developed the toolkit with the guidance of the California Department of Social Services. “Within the toolkit you will find webinars, PowerPoints, fact sheets, ACLs, ACINs related specifically to CCR,” she says.

The CCR Toolkit includes continuously updated information, including newsletters, regional trainings, and family recruitment and retention. Importantly, it provides resources to spread the word about CCR throughout the community, Ms. Iremonger notes.

Goal: To Maintain a Stable Permanent Family

CCR is designed from an understanding that children who must live apart from their biological parents do best when they are cared for in committed, nurturing family homes. Also known as AB 403, CCR provides the statutory and policy framework to ensure that services and supports for the children or youth and their families are tailored toward the ultimate goal of maintaining a stable permanent family.

The CCR Toolkit is among several toolkits that CalSWEC has developed that are dedicated to specific state child welfare initiatives.
