Training Evaluators Meet to Hone Their Skills at Annual Symposium

The Pre-Symposium Institute highlighting “Skill-Building on Single-Subject Design” was a feature of the 15th Annual National Human Services Training Evaluation Symposium (NHSTES). The symposium, held May 22–24, was back at UC Berkeley following a year’s hiatus when Cornell University hosted the event.

The NHSTES attracted some 40 evaluators statewide and internationally, who gathered to share and discuss critical issues in training evaluation. Besides the Pre-Symposium Institute, the symposium featured other valuable presentations, including an interactive discussion on new technologies and skill-building sessions on creating effective behavioral anchors to assist in evaluating skills.

The symposium is sponsored by CalSWEC in conjunction with the California Department of Social Services and the National Staff Development and Training Association of the American Public Human Services Association.

The University of Pittsburgh will host the 2013 NHSTES.
