CalSWEC Network Hub Officially Launches

April 1, 2017

Network Hub, an online library that makes discovering and using learning materials easier for the social work community.

The CalSWEC Network Hub enables social work educators, trainers, practitioners, students, and their community to find learning materials on this central online space, then share, use, or adapt them.

When launched in March, the Network Hub showcased the new collection of Common Core online learning resources, particularly timely following the implementation of the Common Core 3.0 in February.

Features Promote Access, Sharing

The Network Hub’s unique features provide users:

  • Easier and greater access to traditional and online learning instructional content;
  • The capacity to revise and tailor openly licensed content for specific learners and purposes—for savings in cost and resources;
  • A structure for collaborating with others to develop, remix, and improve on those learning materials.

The Network Hub, in beta since 2016, was designed for users to add learning materials progressively to its “Collections,” which to date include such categories as Social Work Education, Child Welfare, and Evaluation and Research.

Add to the Collections, Join a Group

Users typically add materials to the Collections by posting the resource links to the Network Hub. The learning materials remain on their respective websites because the Network Hub does not replace the existing website or libraries.

To add a resource link, users should follow the directions in this step-by-step tutorial.  If they need to upload the file itself to the Network Hub, they should email calswec_tech@berkeley.edu.

For collaborating, the CalSWEC Network Hub has a number of “Groups” associated with the field, including Social Work Trainers, Social Work Training Evaluators, Title IV-E Project Coordinators, and Field Instruction Support. Users can join a Group by simply creating an account and logging in.
