Common Core for Social Workers Now Has Its Own Toolkit

September 25, 2017

The California Common Core Curricula, CC 3.0, now has its own toolkit. Previously housed in various sections of CalSWEC’s website, all the elements of CC 3.0 will now be more easily accessible via the one-stop toolkit, according to Project Manager Melinda Iremonger.

The toolkit is organized into the following sections:

  • The ABCs of the Common Core for Social Workers provides some history as well as introduces the following major changes to CC 3.0:
  1. Organizing training around practice areas so that all the concepts in the content are grounded in practice skills;
  2. Making strategic use of online modules to maximize classroom time for skill building and practice; and
  3. Providing new social workers with opportunities to enhance classroom learning through the application of concepts in the field.
  • Getting Started provides an overview and explanatory documents, content guides and templates, field activity documents, and stakeholder materials.
  • Rules of the Road explains CC 3.0 requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Spreading the Word covers the transfer of learning resources.
  • Common Core Curricula includes the latest versions of CC 3.0 online, classroom, field-based learning, and knowledge and skills reinforcement labs. The curricula is separated into levels 100 and 200.
  • Building Capacity refers to the need for training for staff and caregivers and lists statewide partners that will be developing training.
  • Is the Common Core Working? describes the CC 3.0’s evaluation and revision process.
