Dr. Michael Biehl Joins CalSWEC’s Evaluation and Research Team

Michael Biehl will be joining CalSWEC as Program Evaluation and Research Specialist for the Title IV-E Stipend Program, effective March 27, announced Evaluation and Research Director Sandhya Rao Hermon.

“Specifically, Michael will be helping with follow-up evaluations of Title IV-E stipend holders and helping us make linkages to outcomes at the level of children and families on the County Workforce Study,” said Dr. Hermon. He will also help design new evaluation studies as needed. “We are pleased that Michael will be joining our team, particularly with his background and experience,” she said.

For over 20 years, Dr. Biehl has been working in the field of child and adolescent health. After receiving his M.A., he worked for the Division of Adolescent Medicine at UC San Francisco conducting public policy research on child and adolescent health.

As a graduate student at UC Davis, Dr. Biehl studied child and adolescent development. He conducted longitudinal research on the links between emotional development and regulation during childhood and adolescence and substance use during adolescence and young adulthood.

After receiving his Ph.D. at UC Davis in 2012, Dr. Biehl has been conducting evaluation and research on the effects of Nutrition Education on SNAP-ED participants.

In his leisure time, Dr. Biehl enjoys going to film festivals, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends. Most of all, he loves hanging out and playing baseball with his son Dylan.
