February is African American History Month
January 31, 2022

This month-long observance in the US and Canada provides an opportunity for people to engage with Black histories, go beyond discussions of racism and slavery, and highlight Black leaders and accomplishments.

Reflect on more than 400 years of Black history and heritage in communities across the country. Find special places, historic moments, and personal journeys that contribute to conversations about Black representation, identity, and diversity in our nation's history and today.

There is a wealth of material documenting the African American experience, presenting a diverse range of genres and points of view–from racism's harsh realities to lyrical poetry and searing memoir.
