Two new trauma-informed practice resources have been published on CalSWEC’s Network Hub.
They are:
- Trauma-Informed Curriculum: a seven-module curriculum for second-year MSW students
- Trauma-Informed Practice Modules: Neurobiology, SSHARED, and Mental Health System: a three-module series of lessons, including presentation slides, handouts, and assessments
Background
To stay current with emerging content needs, CalSWEC’s Title IV-E Program conducted an online survey in 2012–2013 among IV-E schools and county partners to identify the highest curriculum content priority and the most preferred type of format.
Most respondents selected trauma-informed practice; their preferred format was brief, drop-in modules that could be integrated into existing coursework, student seminar sessions, or staff development meetings.
The resulting curricula are modular, MSW-level, and amenable to use in a variety of contexts. Their development included the input of regional partners to ensure utility in a variety of potential settings. It also was informed by the work connected with the Katie A.stakeholder group.
