CalSWEC Title IV-E Program

As of June 30, 2024, CalSWEC is no longer operating the Title IV-E Stipend Program at UC Berkeley. As of July 1, 2024, the program will be administered regionally by two new hosts. For more information, please contact UC Davis or UCLA.

The following California State University and University of California locations will be served by UC Davis and UCLA, respectively:

  • UC Davis: Cal Poly Humboldt, Chico, East Bay, Fresno, Monterey Bay, Stanislaus, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, UC Berkeley
  • UCLA: Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, CSULA, Long Beach, Northridge, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Marcos, UCLA

The CalSWEC Title IV-E Program provides professional education and monetary support to undergraduate and graduate social work students who intend to pursue or continue a career in the field of public child welfare.

The goals of the CalSWEC Title IV-E Program:

  • To increase the number of public child welfare (PCW) workers in California with BASW and MSW degrees
  • To prioritize the enrollment of current state/county/Tribal social services staff
  • To prioritize the enrollment of students who reflect the diversity of California’s child welfare population
  • To provide specific program support through the provision of monetary support to students
  • To provide specific program support through a specialized competency-based child welfare curriculum
